The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
  Alleghany County in northwestern North Carolina...
  Western Surry County in northwestern North Carolina...
  Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina...
  Central Carroll County in southwestern Virginia...
  The City of Galax in southwestern Virginia...
  Eastern Grayson County in southwestern Virginia...

* Until 500 AM EDT

* At 1100 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  that heavy rain fall over the area. Up to five inches of rain has 
  fallen across the area Wednesday evening into Wednesday night. 
  Rainfall from Wednesday's storms will continue flooding into 
  Thursday morning. Several creeks and streams remain in flood. 
  Chestnut creek at Galax is out of its banks at 9 feet and rising. 
  Several roads remain closed due to flooding. 
  
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Galax...
  North Wilkesboro...
  Elkin...
  Wilkesboro...
  and Hillsville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
