New River Near Galax affecting Carroll and Grayson Counties as well as the City of Galax New River At Radford affecting Montgomery and Pulaski Counties as well as the City of Radford New River At Glen Lyn affecting Giles...Mercer...Monroe and Summers Counties Heavy rainfall, indirectly associated with Hurricane Matthew, now located in South Georgia, on the order of 2-4 inches with local amounts to 6 inches has resulted in excessive runoff into several areas of the New River basin. Additional heavy rainfall is expected tonight and Thursday as the remnants of Hurricane Michael track northeast across the Carolinas.
