...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in 
Virginia...West Virginia...
 
  New River Near Galax affecting Carroll...Grayson and City of Galax 
  Counties 
  New River At Radford affecting Montgomery...Pulaski and City of 
  Radford Counties 
  New River At Glen Lyn affecting Giles...Mercer...Monroe and Summers 
  Counties 

Rainfall across the upper New River basin over the past 24 hours
of 1 to 3 inches with isolated amounts up to 5 inches plus an 
additional 1 to 2 inches of rain forecast today will bring
stages along the New River above flood stage. The river has 
had an initial crest this morning but the additional rainfall 
is expected to cause a renewed rise this afternoon and tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas...the water may be much deeper 
than you think.

  the New River Near Galax.
* from this afternoon until Friday afternoon
* at 0930 AM Thursday the stage was 5.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by this afternoon and continue 
  to rise to near 10.0 feet by this evening. The river will fall 
  below flood stage by early tomorrow.
* Impact...at 11.0 feet...Route 634 (Grinders Mill Road) on right 
  bank may become flooded.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 10.0 
  feet on Sep 17 2018.

* at 09AM Thursday the stage was 12.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and 
  continue to rise to near 19.0 feet by after midnight tonight.
  The river will fall below flood stage by tomorrow evening.
* Impact...at 20.0 feet...Flooding along sections of Hazel Hollow 
  road (State Route 626) on Pulaski County side of the river.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 16.3 
  feet on Sep 18 2018.

* from after midnight tomorrow until Saturday afternoon
* at 09AM Thursday the stage was 6.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by after midnight tomorrow and 
  continue to rise to near 17.0 feet by tomorrow early afternoon. The
  river will fall below flood stage by early Saturday morning.
* Impact...at 17.0 feet...Some campsites along the river are 
  affected.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 15.7 
  feet on Apr 25 2017.
