The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Surry County in northwestern North Carolina...
  Yadkin County in northwestern North Carolina...

* Until 215 PM EDT Thursday

* At 813 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the 
  warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen since 
  yesterday in some locations within the warned area. The additional 
  rainfall moving through currently is associated with the outer 
  circulation of Tropical Storm Michael. The rainfall will increase 
  in intensity and coverage through the morning and persist for an 
  extended period of time.

* Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Mount Airy...
  Elkin...
  Fairview...
  Flat Rock...
  and Yadkinville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
