The Flash Flood Watch continues for * Flash Flood Watch for central North Carolina, including the following counties, Alamance, Anson, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham, Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson. * From Thursday morning through late Thursday night * Heavy rain will move into central North Carolina from the southwest early Thursday morning and spread northeast across all of central NC by early afternoon. The heaviest rain is expected to fall late Thursday morning into Thursday evening. Storm total rainfall amounts of 3 to 7 inches are expected with the heaviest rain expected to fall across the northern and western Piedmont. Rain may fall at rates in excess of an inch per hour. * These rainfall amounts and intensities may produce flash flooding, particularly in low lying and poor drainage areas and near creeks, streams, and ditches.
