The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for a portion of central North Carolina, including the following areas, Alamance, Anson, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham, Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson. * From Thursday morning through late Thursday night. * Heavy rain will spread into central North Carolina starting early Thursday morning, as what is now Hurricane Michael moves northeast across the region. Storm total rainfall of 3 to 6 inches is expected. Rain in some areas may fall at a rate of one half to one inch per hour. * This rainfall could produce flash flooding, particularly in areas of poor drainage and near creeks, streams, and ditches.
