...The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Upper Michigan...

  Black River near Bessemer affecting Gogebic County

.Widespread heavy rainfall of 2 to 3 inches over the Black River basin over the 
past 24 hours with an additional 0.5 to 1 inch over the previous few days have 
led to a rapid rise in river levels. Additional rainfall will be limited, up to 
a quarter inch through Thursday. An observer in the area reported the river has 
exceeded it's banks and is surrounding nearby trees, but is still far from 
approaching the bottom of bridges in the area. The river is expected to crest 
just above flood stage at 10.1 feet late tonight before flood waters quickly 
recede Thursday morning, likely falling below flood stage around sunrise.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Even 6 inches of fast moving flood water can knock 
you off your feet...and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never 
try to walk...swim...or drive through such swift water. If you come 
upon flood waters...stop...turn around and go another way.

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a
* Flood Warning for 
  The Black River near Bessemer.
* until Thursday afternoon.
* At  7:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 9.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise 
  to near 10.1 feet by late tonight. The river will fall below flood 
  stage by late tonight.
* At 10.0 feet...Which is flood stage...water impacts low lying areas
  of properties along Black River Road and Hedberg Road.
