...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has expanded
the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of Maryland and central
  Virginia, including the following areas, in Maryland, Anne
  Arundel, Prince Georges, Southeast Harford, and Southern
  Baltimore. In central Virginia, Albemarle, Central Virginia 
  Blue Ridge, Nelson, and Orange.

* From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight

* Moisture associated with Tropical Storm Michael will be
  interacting with a cold front that is expected to move through
  the area tonight. Periods of showers are expected through
  tonight, with the heaviest rainfall occurring later this
  afternoon through this evening. Rainfall amounts around 1 to 2
  inches are expected, with localized amounts of 2 to 4 inches
  possible in heavier showers and isolated thunderstorms. Heavy
  amounts of rain in short periods of time may cause creeks and
  streams to quickly rise out of their banks as well as the
  potential for flash flooding in urban areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
