The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
  McPherson County in central Kansas...
  Reno County in south central Kansas...
  Harvey County in south central Kansas...
  Rice County in central Kansas...
  Ellsworth County in central Kansas...
  Russell County in central Kansas...
  Barton County in central Kansas...

* Until 1245 PM CDT Thursday.

* As of 1230 PM CDT, emergency management and law enforcement in 
  several central Kansas counties have expressed continued flooding 
  concerns. Many roadways remain closed due to flood waters. 
  Flooding will remain a concern in low-lying areas, rural roadways, 
  and along streams, creeks, and rivers. Continue to use caution 
  when traveling and do not drive through standing water.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Hutchinson, Newton, Great Bend, Mcpherson, Russell, Lyons, Hesston,
  Lindsborg, Ellsworth, Hoisington, South Hutchinson, Sterling,
  Ellinwood, Halstead, North Newton, Moundridge, Sedgwick, Inman,
  Buhler and Haven.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 23 and 77.
 Interstate 70 between Mile Markers 176 and 228.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
