The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
  Cowley County in south central Kansas...

* Until 1215 PM CDT Thursday.

* At 1100 AM CDT, emergency management reported continued flooding 
  concerns across Cowley County. Although rainfall has ended, 
  multiple roadways remain flooded, particularly near the Arkansas 
  City area. Flooding remains possible in low-lying areas, roadways, 
  and along streams, creeks, and rivers. 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Arkansas City, Winfield, Udall, Burden, Dexter, Atlanta, Geuda
  Springs, Rock, Cambridge, Maple City, Winfield City Lake and
  Strother Field Airport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
