The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southern Yancey County in western North Carolina...

* Until 1245 PM EDT.

* At 809 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 5 
  to 6 inches of rain had fallen across the warned area since 
  yesterday.  Additional and occasionally heavy tropical showers 
  will continue to overspread the region through midday. Expect 
  flooding to develop throughout the Cane and South Toe Basins. 

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... 
Burnsville, Mount Mitchell State Park, B.R. Parkway-Craggy To Little 
Switzerland, Celo, Busick and Micaville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Runoff from heavy rain into creeks and streams will cause sudden
increases in water levels and flows, even in areas where rainfall has
been light or nonexistent. Hikers, campers and other individuals
outdoors must immediately seek high ground and avoid all streams.
