(Tonight and Thursday) Patchy early morning clouds have cleared out of the region this afternoon, making way for sunny skies across West Central Texas. A cool air mass was left behind by the cold front that passed through last night, and temperatures at 1 pm were only in the 60s across the region. Expect highs today in the low to mid 70s south of the Big Country and in the upper 60s in the Big Country. It will still be chilly tonight, with lows in the low to mid 50s. Thursday day-time looks dry, with highs below normal once again in the low to mid 70s. LONG TERM... (Friday through Thursday) .Locally heavy rainfall possible this weekend and possibly into early next week... Remnants of tropical storm Sergio are expected to move from El Paso northeast across North Texas and Oklahoma...Friday night into Saturday. The main focus of heavy rainfall with this system is across the Big Country and Concho Valley...Big Lake to San Angelo to Brownwood and northward. WPC rainfall amounts range from 1 to 3 inches, with the heaviest along/north of I-20. Another period of heavier rain may redevelop Sunday afternoon into Monday, as a developing upper trough over New Mexico, brings lift and a possible overrunning rainfall event over the cold front Sunday. The models are focusing this rainfall over southern sections along I-10 and the Concho Valley. There could be a couple inches more rainfall, but confidence is medium at this time, given it is still 4 to 5 days out. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
