563 FXUS64 KSJT 100950 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 450 AM CDT Wed Oct 10 2018 .SHORT TERM... (Today and Tonight) Early this morning, a weak cold front is moving south across southern portions of the forecast area and will clear the I-10 corridor by daybreak. A drier and cooler airmass will filter into the area behind the front today, with mostly sunny skies and below normal temperatures. Winds will be light northerly today, with afternoon highs ranging from the upper 60s across the Big Country, to the mid 70s across southern sections of the forecast area. A cool surface ridge will be in place across the area tonight. Skies will be mostly clear and with light winds and a drier airmass, temperatures will be quite chilly. Overnight lows will range from the upper 40s across the northern Big Country, to the lower 50s elsewhere. .LONG TERM... (Thursday through Wednesday) Rain chances return again for this weekend along with the possibility for more flooding concerns. In fact, Thursday and Friday afternoon may see a few isolated thunderstorms in association with a weak disturbance. Then, the main show will begin on Saturday and Sunday as the remnants of tropical cyclone Sergio move across the region. This combined with a strong trough moving across the western U.S. and on into the plains will provide plenty of support for showers and thunderstorms. With soils already saturated, or near saturated, this could lead to additional flooding concerns for the weekend. Rain chances will remain fairly low until a better handle is had on the positioning of each feature. Finally, it appears as though a strong cold front will pass through the region sometime on Sunday. Temperatures on Monday, as a result, will be much cooler than the previous few days. Early indications are showing temperatures in the mid 50s, however, uncertainty is high at this point in time. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
