.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight and Wednesday) 

Showers and thunderstorms have moved east of the forecast area early 
this afternoon, and visible satellite shows mostly sunny skies 
everywhere except in the Big Country and Heartland regions, where 
clouds should clear out through the rest of the afternoon. Tonight 
and Wednesday should be dry with mostly clear skies, as a dry air 
mass (dewpoints down into the 40s and low 50s and precipitable water 
only around 0.4-0.6 inches) filters into the region. 

A cold front moving down from the north late tonight will bring 
breezy northerly winds into the area and colder air as well. 
Overnight lows may get down into the upper 40s/low 50s in the Big 
Country, and mainly low 50s elsewhere. Tomorrow we should have below 
normal high temperatures (in the low 70s in the Big Country, and mid 
to upper 70s elsewhere).

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through Tuesday)

...Heavy rainfall possible this weekend...

Remnants of Hurricane Sergio may affect West Central Texas this 
weekend...beginning late Friday night into Saturday night...as it
quickly moves east across North Texas and Oklahoma. The best 
potential for heavy rainfall will be across the Big Country, 
though heavy rainfall can not be ruled out farther south. The 
weather prediction center (WPC) has 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall 
across the Big Country Saturday, with 0.5 to 1 inches farther 
south. Locally heavier amounts are certainly possible. With 
saturated soils, the potential for flash flooding will exist.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop earlier Thursday 
night and Friday, with a weak disturbance ahead of the weekend 
system. Rainfall amount will be light generally 1/10 inch ore 
less. 

A cold front will move through Sunday, bringing colder air into 
the region. Highs in the 60s Sunday are expected in the Big 
Country with 70s farther south. Highs Monday are expected in the 
upper 50s and lower 60s and 60s Tuesday. Lows in the lower to mid 
40s possible Sunday night and Monday night. Isolated shower may 
affect the region Sunday into Monday.
