778 FXUS66 KSEW 101011 AFDSEW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Seattle WA 311 AM PDT Wed Oct 10 2018 .SYNOPSIS...High pressure aloft will provide dry weather for the next week. Mostly clear skies will allow for some night and morning fog. Highs will be near normal. && .SHORT TERM...An upper ridge offshore will produce dry northerly flow aloft for Western Washington through Friday. A weak weather system will pass to the north Thursday night and Friday but it is not expected to have any impact on the area. Light northerly low level offshore flow will prevail. This pattern is conducive to some night and morning fog for the lowlands, especially the usual valley locations. For this morning, fog looks to be more limited due to a weak weather system bringing some mid and high clouds. Highs will be near normal the next few days. Schneider .LONG TERM...Dry weather will continue Saturday through Tuesday with a strong upper ridge just offshore. Low level offshore flow will continue as well. There will probably be some night and morning fog in the usual valley locations but the low level offshore flow should keep fog from becoming too widespread. Temperatures will be near normal. Schneider && .AVIATION...North-northwesterly flow aloft will continue today as a ridge of high pressure builds offshore. Some low-level stratus currently exists across W WA terminals with mostly VFR cigs. Expect scattered low-level stratus to continue into early this afternoon. MVFR/IFR conditions may become more widespread this morning (12z-17z) as fog develops in prone areas as surface winds remain light. Mainly clear skies expected this afternoon after lingering fog clears. Surface winds remain light. Widespread MVFR to IFR fog are expected again tonight into Thursday morning as skies remain clear with winds light. KSEA...Above discussion applies. VFR cigs currently expected to erode to MVFR/IFR conditions this morning (14z-18z). VFR cigs will return by this afternoon. Light and variable winds this morning will become northerly in the afternoon with speeds between 4-7 knots. JD && .MARINE...High pressure will remain over the area waters today and into the weekend...resulting in lighter winds and a fairly benign forecast. Areas of fog will be possible during the overnight and early morning hours. Northerly offshore flow at the surface during this period will keep wind speeds in check with no headlines anticipated for much of the forecast period. SMR && .SEW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
