A few storms are forecast to develop during the heat of the afternoon. The best chance for any development will be from around the Orlando area east to Cape Canaveral, and points southward to Lake Okeechobee. Storms will produce lightning strikes and brief heavy downpours, leading to ponding water. Storm motion will be out of the southwest at around 20 to 25 mph. .RIP CURRENT IMPACT... A Moderate Risk of rip currents is in effect for east central FL beaches. Rip currents will likely be highest around low tide, which occurs in the mid to late afternoon. Always swim in sight of a lifeguard and do not swim alone. .MARINE THUNDERSTORM GUST IMPACT... Showers and a few storms moving from the land to offshore will be capable of producing wind gusts of 35 knots. Mariners should keep an eye to the skies as these storms will be moving offshore from the west. Seek safe harbor when skies appear threatening. .WIND AND SEA IMPACT... South to southwest winds of 15 to 20 knots will keep seas elevated to 6 to 7 feet offshore. As Tropical Storm Michael continues to move northward, winds and seas will gradually subside through late afternoon. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. Dry air behind a weak frontal boundary will filter into FL this weekend, lowering shower and storm chances into early next week. Beach and boating conditions will also improve as Michael pushes to the open Atlantic waters. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation will not be needed today. $$ JS/JP
