241 FXUS62 KJAX 100113 AFDJAX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Jacksonville FL 913 PM EDT Tue Oct 9 2018 ...LOCAL IMPACTS FROM HURRICANE MICHAEL EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY... .UPDATE... No major changes to the forecast this evening. Onshore winds are starting to diminish some, though at the beaches 10 to 15 knots with gusts near 20 knots will continue overnight. Coverage of showers moving onshore into southeast Georgia are also starting to diminish, with mainly just passing scattered showers expected for the overnight hours area wide. Rainbands from Major Hurricane Michael will start moving into northeast Florida during the early morning hours on Wednesday. Tropical storm force winds will be possible west of I-75 beginning as early as tomorrow morning, and spreading inland throughout the day as Michael approaches the Florida Panhandle. No changes have made to the Tropical Storm warnings across the area. As a reminder, all of southeast Georgia is under a tropical storm warning, and only Suwannee, Columbia, Gilchrist, and Hamilton counties in northeast Florida. && .AVIATION... Shower activity has decreased across the area this evening. Mostly MVFR conditions overnight with isolated showers. Showers will increase Wednesday as rain bands from Michael move into the area. East winds tonight will become southeast on Wednesday and increase to 15g25 knots...with higher gusts in rain bands. && .MARINE... Elevated winds and seas will continue through at least Thursday due to Hurricane Michael. Refer to the latest advisory on Hurricane Michael issued by the National Hurricane Center. Tropical storm warnings continue for the coastal waters in southeast Georgia, while a Small Craft Advisory remains for the northeast Florida waters. Squally conditions are expected through thursday with higher gusts and waterspouts possible. Once Hurricane Michael moves inland and north of the area, high pressure will build in from the north. Rip Currents: A high risk of rip currents and rough and dangerous surf conditions continue.
