607 FXUS63 KIWX 110846 AFDIWX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Northern Indiana 446 AM EDT Thu Oct 11 2018 .SYNOPSIS... Issued at 443 AM EDT Thu Oct 11 2018 In the wake of a cold frontal passage last night, expect much more fall like weather to settle in through next week. Highs will be mainly in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Frost is likely tonight south of highway 30 and west of highway 31. More frost is possible early Saturday morning when lows drop into the lower to middle 30s. && .SHORT TERM...(Today and Tonight) Issued at 400 AM EDT Thu Oct 11 2018 Very chilly air will continue to spread across the area behind a cold front. Post frontal clouds will spread across the area early today, but should tend to dissipate as subsidence increases and deepens. Temperatures today should be nearly steady as cold air advection offsets diurnal warming. The cold air spreading over the warm waters of Lake Michigan will produce lake clouds which will move inland tonight and should prevent temperatures from falling to freezing over most areas. However, where skies clear, widespread frost is likely. This area in Indiana includes places south of highway 30 and west of highway 31. After coordination, have issued a frost advisory for tonight for these areas. Additional counties including Laporte, Kosciusko and Wabash may need to be added if skies clear farther northeast. && .LONG TERM...(Friday through Wednesday) Issued at 400 AM EDT Thu Oct 11 2018 The cold air will persist through the middle of next week as a large upper level trof remains over the area. Frost is likely additional nights including Friday night as lows dip well down into the 30s. The remnants of Tropical Storm Sergio will stay well southeast of the area and are not expected to bring heavy rain north of the Ohio River. A reinforcing shot of cold front behind a system early next week will bring renewed chances for frost Monday night and possibly Tuesday night. && .AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Thursday Night) Issued at 144 AM EDT Thu Oct 11 2018 Generally improving conditions to VFR by late morning/midday. Some minor wind gusts in well mixed/strong post frontal westerly flow. Detail winds lessening as boundary layer cools/stabilizes late in forecast period as surface ridge builds eastward from the Upper Plains/Mississippi Valley into the western Great Lakes. && .IWX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
