232 FXUS65 KGGW 111437 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 837 AM MDT Thu Oct 11 2018 .DISCUSSION... Increased pops slightly over the central and western zones this morning. Snow showers have produced an inch of snow in the Larb Hills south of Hinsdale, but activity should be mostly gone by the mid-afternoon. TFJ Previous Discussion... A shortwave trough will move through Central and Eastern Montana today. This wave will have enough moisture and energy for scattered snow showers mainly over the western half of the forecast area this morning. Cloudy skies are expected for most of today with a very cold air mass which will keep temperatures much colder than normal for highs today. Shortwave ridge tonight and Friday will bring a brief warm up before a cold front move through Friday evening with an upper trough Friday Night and Saturday. Limited moisture is expected with the system but there will be gusty northwest winds with cold temperatures that will only be in the 30s for highs on Saturday. High pressure Saturday Night will diminish the winds but the cold air remains in place on Sunday with highs only near 40. The NW flow will send another shortwave through the area on Monday and bring warmer temperatures with a chance of rain in the north. Upper ridge on Pacific Coast moves inland during the week which will bring several days of dry and warmer weather. Forrester && .AVIATION... KGGW will have a mix of VFR and MVFR conditions today as low clouds will be over that area with scattered snow showers mainly this morning. The TAF sites to the east will have VFR conditions most of the time today with scattered to broken mid and low clouds. Skies will clear this evening and remain clear overnight with VFR conditions except where patchy fog lowers visibility.
