951 FXUS65 KGGW 101939 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 139 PM MDT Wed Oct 10 2018 .DISCUSSION... Clouds are thinning and/or decreasing mainly over the eastern zones this afternoon as Canadian high pressure noses south into the area. A deep upper trough is lifting slowly to the northeast into the northern plains today, but energy continues to drop southeast into Montana through Thursday. This may trigger a snow shower Thursday mainly over central Montana. The NW flow will send another disturbance, this one bigger late Friday into Saturday. Not much precip is expected but winds will be a factor with 850 mb winds of about 40-45 kts and cold air advection moving through. Temps will be quite cool Saturday with highs only in the mid-upper 30s - close to record cold Max readings. Next disturbance moves through Monday but much further northeast, thus some warming will occur. The upper levels will warm a bit as an upper ridge off the Pacific NW coast nudges east. A slight warmup then looks to be in store mid-week with temperatures approaching normal levels (mid to upper 50s) as the upper ridge nudges east. TFJ && .AVIATION... VFR ceilings are expected with partial clearing tonight. Winds will be light and variable tonight. TFJ && .GLASGOW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...NONE. && $$ weather.gov/glasgow
