...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Upper 
Michigan...

  Sturgeon River near Alston affecting Baraga and Houghton Counties

After a widespread 2 to 4 inches of rain over the region, the majority of the 
moderate to heavy rainfall has come to an end. A few scattered showers through 
tomorrow could bring up to an additional quarter inch of rain. The Sturgeron 
River basin has responded today by quickly rising above flood stage near Alston, 
but it has already begun to crest and river levels will likely begin to lower 
once again overnight tonight. It is expected to fall below flood stage Thursday 
evening. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Even 6 inches of fast moving flood water can knock 
you off your feet...and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never 
try to walk...swim...or drive through such swift water. If you come 
upon flood waters...stop...turn around and go another way.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Sturgeon River near Alston.
* until Friday afternoon.
* At  4:30 PM Wednesday the stage was 8.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 8.6 feet by this 
  evening. The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow evening.
* At 8.0 feet...Homes and structures along the low lying areas and 
  numerous roads become impacted by flood water. In Houghton 
  County...Sturgeon River Road...Aho Road...and Rajala Road are 
  impacted. In Baraga County...Sturgeon Road...Halonen Road and 
  Usitalo Road are impacted. Along Froberg Road...Tahtinen Road...
  Irwin Road...and Pieti Road are impacted.
