Visibilities have risen across the Hill Country and I-35 corridor so the advisory has been dropped along and west of I-35. The advisory will continue through 10 am for counties east of I-35. Lee, Fayette, and Gonzales County have been added given 1/4 to 1/2 mile visibility being reported at Giddings, La Grange, and the City of Gonzales. The rest of the forecast is on track. PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 641 AM CDT Wed Oct 10 2018/ AVIATION... At KAUS, winds are turning to the NW and will erode the FG by start of TAF time with LIFR CIGS rapidly lifting to MVFR as winds turn to N and increase to 7 to 12 KTs. Clouds become FEW VFR by mid morning and prevail through Thursday. At KSAT/KSSF, light NW drainage winds have shoved the LIFR stratus CIGs and BR away from the sites. As winds turn to the N at 7 to 11 KTs, a brief period of MVFR level clouds is possible, otherwise FEW VFR level clouds prevail today through Thursday. At KDRT, VFR skies prevail today into tonight as N winds around 5 KTs turn SE this afternoon. PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 508 AM CDT Wed Oct 10 2018/ UPDATE... Dense fog has become more widespread than we had previously anticipated, and we have issued a Dense Fog Advisory until mid- morning. The worst fog will be along I-35 and into the northern Hill Country. Fog should burn off by around 10 AM. PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 329 AM CDT Wed Oct 10 2018/ SHORT TERM (Today through Thursday)... Upper air analysis last evening showed a trough over the western half of the country with an axis over west Texas and southwesterly flow over the state. At the surface a cold front was stretched across North Texas and an ill defined pressure pattern ahead of it. Surface winds were light and variable across our CWA. The airmass has dried by five to ten degrees over the last 24 hours. Clear skies have allowed temperatures to cool and patchy fog is beginning to develop from I-35 to the southeast across the Coastal Plains. This fog will last until mid-morning. The upper level trough axis will continue to swing into the central plains during this period and the cold front will move through our CWA. We will have dry weather through this period and cooler temperatures. The lows Thursday morning will be especially cooler. LONG TERM (Thursday Night through Tuesday)... The upper pattern will become nearly zonal over Texas Thursday night. The surface front will stall in eastern Mexico and there may be enough lift and moisture to generate isolated showers and thunderstorms across our western area Thursday night and Friday. Tropical Storm Sergio in the eastern Pacific will move across northern Mexico Friday and by Friday night what's left of it will move through West Texas. This will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms Saturday, but most of the moisture from this system is forecast to go north of our CWA into Central Texas. Sunday another front system will pick of the remnants of Sergio and drop through Central Texas. This front will move through our CWA Sunday night. We expect this will bring chances for rain Sunday through Tuesday. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
