.SHORT TERM...(Today through Friday)

We still have a few lingering light patches of snow over the
northern Nebraska Panhandle early this morning as the backside of
yesterday's shortwave pulls farther to the east, with snow showers
expected to increase in coverage today as the upper level low over
northern Utah moves across northern Colorado today. The models are
in fair agreement de-amplifying/weakening the upper low as it
translates eastward, and so we have kept the overall trend of
higher chances of snow in our western zones with lesser amounts
farther east. This still results in several inches of snowfall in
the higher elevations of the Sierra Madre/Snowy ranges (5 to 10
inches in general) with a few inches (1 to 3 inches) for the lower
elevations of Carbon and southwestern Albany counties. We will be
keeping the Winter Weather Advisory going for most of Carbon and
southwestern Albany counties today, with no general changes in
timing.  

A somewhat active upper flow pattern will prevail through Thursday
as another upper trough digs over the southwestern states, keeping
chances for snow showers going across southeastern Wyoming and the
western Nebraska Panhandle through Thursday, then we see that
upper trough move off to the east by Friday with a break in the
moist pattern with a slight warm-up into the 50s lower elevations
expected.

.LONG TERM...(Friday Night  through Tuesday)

Next upper trough and associated cold front will sweep across the
CWA Saturday and Saturday night bringing a round of snow or rain 
changing to snow to much of the CWA. System pretty progressive but 
looks like a general 1 to 4 inches of snow with the heaviest 
amounts over and near the mtns. Upper trough axis passes by early
Sunday with any lingering snow showers coming to an end. A chilly
day on Sunday with max temps mostly in the 30s and 40s after lows
in the teens to lower 20s. Early next week should be dry and 
milder under northwesterly flow aloft. MOS guidance looks a bit 
too aggressive with warming and have undercut that somewhat.

.AVIATION...(For the 12Z TAFS through 12Z Thursday morning)

Another round of light snow will mover over most of southeast Wy and 
the southern Neb Panhandle today with associated MVFR/IFR cigs and 
vsbys affecting most terminals.  Conditions will improve from west 
to east late this afternoon through this evening with VFR expected 
by late evening.

No fire weather headlines anticipated for the next several days
with cooler temperatures and humidity levels expected to remain
above any critical thresholds. Scattered snow showers will
continue through Thursday.
