704 FXUS65 KBOI 111548 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 948 AM MDT Thu Oct 11 2018 .DISCUSSION...A few showers were still lingering over the mountains of central Idaho and also in the western Magic Valley as of 9:45 am MDT. These showers will decrease through the day and be gone by evening. A Frost Advisory has been issued for agricultural zones (the Treasure and western Magic Valleys) for tonight. Low temps at or below 36 degrees are expected over most of the areas in the advisory, and this typically leads to widespread frost. Similar temps are forecast for Friday night, and even colder temps for Saturday and Sunday nights. A freeze warning may be needed for Saturday night, but we will see what later forecasts say before issuing that. Update out shortly to add the headline to the zone forecast. SHORT TERM...Today through Friday...Isolated showers in the Western Magic Valley and Southern Twin Falls County will end by noon as an upper trough moves to the south of the area. A dry northerly flow aloft will follow the exiting trough, resulting in decreasing clouds. Patchy fog in the northern valleys this morning will dissipate by noon. The northerly flow aloft will transition to northwesterly on Friday for continued mostly clear skies. Temperatures will be warmer today with highs mainly in the 50s. The warming trend will continue on Friday with highs mainly in the mid 50s to mid 60s. Winds will be light. LONG TERM...Friday night through Wednesday...A cold front in Montana will bring a reinforcement of cooler air from the north on Sunday. Precipitation will stay well east of the area. Temperatures will be around 10 degrees below normal. Upper level ridging begins to build across the region on Monday and will move overhead by Wednesday.
