327 FXUS65 KBOI 092050 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 250 PM MDT Tue Oct 9 2018 .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Friday Night...Upper level low over the forecast area this evening will slowly drift into Utah by morning. Trailing northwest flow will keep showers going in the Magic Valley much of the night, but other areas should break up and see some clearing. Snow level remains around 5500-6500 ft. Significant northwest winds this evening will start to diminish by morning. Those winds may inhibit fog formation in some areas, but believe there will be enough clearing that we added some areas of patchy fog in the morning for all areas that received precipitation today. On Wednesday, a weak secondary wave dropping south, combined with moisture at the mid levels, will keep some showers possible over the Central Idaho Mountains through the afternoon, but should remain dry elsewhere. Northerly flow continues through Thursday and Friday, which keep us from seeing much warming, even though sunshine should be plentiful. Temperatures remain 5-15 degrees below normal through Friday. .LONG TERM...Saturday through Tuesday...Upper level ridge to the west and upper level trough over the Rocky Mountains will keep cool northerly flow over the forecast area through Monday.
